We got similar advice from Maestro Suzuki on many of the movements: "Wir haben ein Gesetz" was lawyer-like, very "square," he said. Kreuzige was as the rabble we were. "Wir haben keine Konig" was as if to say, "whoa whoa, who, us? We just work here." The sweet-sounding "Sei gegrusset" was supposed to be mocking and saccharine. And the dice-rolling soldiers movement, in a surprise to me, was to be "playful."

We just finished our run... I wish you success in yours!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5302167803066647957.post-15309099571196156602011-04-21T02:35:21.701-05:002011-04-21T02:35:21.701-05:00Oh my LORI, so glad now that you are immersed in r...Oh my LORI, so glad now that you are immersed in rehearsals that you are blogging about it. Thank you for sharing!

I feel drained just reading this, oh my, you are all very professional not breaking down and crying, "thinking about your guilt and someone dying for your sin". "put yourself into it".
then you are like lawyers, and the crowd... yellng "Kreuzige"!!!
Wow you are certainly through Bach, experiencing Passion week in its full spiritual and dramatic fashion.
Wow heavy homework, after a rehearsal, you must be sleeping with this music in your head.

How wonderful for you to once again experience Bach's Johannes Passion in a different light. You must be very honoured to sing under Jane Glover's direction. I read a bit on her on the site you provided. Have you read her book Mozart't Women? If not I can imagine it is on top of your list.

anxious to hear how the "wohin" rehearsal went.Frau Cabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17334458280027621286noreply@blogger.com
